Serving as a Deacon has been a wild ride. The last 3 years. The death of my grandma (Sweetie) May 9th 2020 at 1:30 am. I now know it was an act of the Holy Spirit that I was able to have a special relationship with my Sweetie. I was grateful to have the privilege of serving with her as the class of 2023. It was strange to think that Ordination/Installation would be livestreamed at home.
As a deacon we are the hands and feet of Christ. 2 years later I realized that visiting my “sweetie” one last time while she was alive but not with us was a home visit without communion and the entire family around her at the end.
2020 Ordination/Installation was not normal but, it was so special to celebrate ordination as the only mother/son together as deacons.
It has been a wild ride and a pleasure to serve through a difficult and unexpected times. I’m excited to continue my service for the class of 2026. Only this time we can all celebrate together in person.
