This is my 2023 Journey with Mental Health Care
2023 I started a new Mental Health Journey:
I was looking for new Psychiatrist that was easier to access but it took me several tries to find the right provider.
All the providers had issues with getting my meds prescribed and having them work for me. The most recent provider I had from August to September did Drug sensitivity testing to see what kinds of medication that my body can handle. It was found in results that I needed to be perscribed the lowest dosage of any medication that I was perscribed.
In a recent Time Magazine article on 5 things to do if your doctor isn’t listening to you:
1. Spend time preparing for appointments
2. Ask specific questions
3. Take someone with you. I always take my mom/Guardian with me to my medical appointments because she knows my health better then I do for somethings.
4. Be relentless
5. Give feedback – and consider moving on. I have been moving on a ton this year. The doctors were not listening to my prescription needs. The most recent provider didn’t have a reception desk. The clinic had a place for a receptionist but they don’t have any. That was one negative. The second was a receptionist making appointments on the phone was rude to me so I decided to seek medication management (Psychiatry) at the same clinic were I receive my therapy.
